As we discussed in the overview to this chapter, there are two main types of migraine, and a host of variants. The definitions are as follows:
Common migraine (migraine without aura)
This is the type of migraine described by eighty to ninety per cent of migraine sufferers.
• A headache of between four and seventy-two hours.
• One or more of the following symptoms:
nausea and/or vomiting
• And at least two of the following describe the headache:
one-sided
pulsating
of moderate or severe intensity (to a degree which limits your ability to take part in normal daily activities);
made worse by normal physical activity
